Carson's surgery is scheduled for 7:30 AM (ET) on Friday.! He completed the FEES (swallow procedure) this morning. He absolutely hated the procedure but I can't really blame him (you have someone holding your arms and your head still while a doctor sticks a camera up your nose and down to the back of your throat). AWFUL!! He did well and the results were good or at least nothing we didn't already know.
We had a fun day today at the Cincinnati Zoo and then at a park that Carson has told Kellen about. The weather was gorgeous. We are ready to have tomorrow's surgery behind us and on the road to recovery.
Two other specific prayer requests:
1. That Carson tolerates the stent well (the one they will place in his airway tomorrow). The nurse has told us some kids do fine with it and others hate it, but either way, it'll be in there for 5 weeks.
2. That once Carson's airway is more open (after the reconstruction) that it doesn't cause him to aspirate. This is always a risk.
